B'THELIGHT by Brittany Swails

Feed your mind.

Thankfulness breeds thankfulness. The more we practice it the more we will live thankfulness out loud.

When I was deep into my journey with depression, I was constantly having to notice the things I would say to myself. The words that we tell ourselves are so powerful. Darkness delights in our anxiety, anger and frustration and would love to keep darkness over our hearts and minds.

I had to learn to take the time to slow down in order to recognize where the voice was coming from. I learned quickly to idenfity the two. The light in Gods voice stills you, leads you, reassures you, enlightens you, encourages you, comforts you, calms you, and convicts you. Darkness however, rushes you, pushes you, frightens you, confuses you, discourages you, worries you, obsesses you, and condemns you.

I have said for many years now that if you don't set you mind first thing in the morning, the darkness will creep in and set it for you. Our mind is the darkness's number one target.

Darkness loves a person who is wallowing in self pity. It loves a person who is negative about the things they are dealing with in their life. It loves people who are so focused on their problems and not on what is brightest, their God.

Start asking God to reveal clearly to you how you can best honor Him in situations that you cannot understand. Start talking to God on a regular basis. The more you take time to get to know Him, the more loudly you will be able to recognize His voice... even in the darkest of places.

As a woman who still deals with anxiety on a daily basis I am just giving advice on what helps me each day. I do not have it all figured out, but I’m here just trying to shed some light on the darkness around us.

Keep praising Him, friends. Remember to always look for the good and as always, be the light.
